Tuesday Update: Churning and Slipping.

I keep trying on the items I bought for my Fall wardrobe, and finally decided I need to return most of them. This decision opened the floodgates: I could now justify a big shopping trip. Ah, Nordstrom. How I love that store! It was such a nice shopping trip, too. I was alone and had a wishlist all set up in the phone app. When I got there, a sales associate took down all the item numbers, colors, and sizes, and brought everything to me. I’ve never had that kind of experience! I really like this shopping-from-the-list mentality. Why have I never thought of it before?

I picked out a few key pieces and my total will be a wash with the items I need to return. That was luck! I’m terrible at doing the math while I shop, so I rely on the totals when I check out. I didn’t even need to scale back. I churned my Fall collection with no additional expense. (Though I still have to get to the nearby mall to return the other items.)

Now for the slipping. I tasted again how delicious shopping can be…and ended up at TJMaxx today. Surprise! I found a few more “perfect” additions for the Fall. Now I have to cull from both shopping trips so that I don’t end up with an additional expense.

It might be an easy task. I started photographing my outfits, and some of them don’t look as good as when I look in a mirror. That should make the decision to return much easier. Though I prefer to think that what I see in the mirror is what other people see. If people see what I see in these photos, I’ll just go hide in a cave now!

Here’s my plan, then. I’ll decide what to keep using the photos, then I’ll happily wear those items, hoping that I actually look the way I do in the mirror.
